Bob Wiegand

Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer

A 1974 graduate of San Marcos High School, Bob Wiegand was born and raised in San Marcos, Texas. Wiegand grew up on the hill behind SWTSU and adjacent to San Marcos Academy, on the land which is now Texas State West Campus. He graduated from SWT in 1978, and pursued a career in education and coaching. Coaching took him through Central, Southeast, and South Texas. While in South Texas he obtained his Masters of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&I University.

In the 90’s Bob served as principal of Medina Valley High School. From 1999-2007 he was the principal at New Braunfels Canyon High School. During 2007 and 2008 he took one year away from education, working in a non-denominational ministry and consulting for school districts and businesses. Wiegand returned to education in Navarro where he led the Intermediate campus from 2008-2014. Campus teams under his direction were recognized as TEA Recognized and Exemplary campuses, Title I Part A Distinguished Performance, and State Comptroller FAST 5 Star ratings among other recognitions.

From 2014-2018 Bob ran his own small business and contracted in hurricane relief after Hurricane Harvey in Southeast Texas and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. In 2018 San Marcos Academy called Wiegand to be their Academic Dean. He currently serves SMA as their Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer.
