Say Your Prayers & Feed the Bears Cookbook

Got a hankering for Kai Yang’s Country Fried Eggs? Mrs. Lucas’s Hashbrown Casserole? The Guenthers’ Sweet Potato Burritos? Mrs. Portis’s Poppy Seed Chicken? Or maybe Coach Wade’s Ham Spaghetti?

The only way to get these and tons of other delicious recipes from SMA parents, teachers, staff and alumni is to purchase YOUR copy of the Cub Network’s Say Your Prayers and Feed the Bears cookbook.

It’s only $15 (or $20 if you want it sent by mail . . . which might be your best bet since coming by to pick it up is not an option at the present time!) Visit this link to order:

Class of 2020 Graduation Information

Graduation Events
This document outlines the major Graduation events that will take place on our campus May 7-9.  This information includes details on time, attire, and other tips for parents and students as you begin planning for this special time in the life of your senior student.

Graduation Attire for Senior Girls
Our senior girls will need a few special outfits for their graduation events. This document provides information and specifications about the attire, which must be approved in advance by the dress committee. Girls may send photos of themselves wearing their outfits (front and back view) to the committee via email at

Senior Montage Photos Needed
One of the highlights of graduation weekend is the presentation of the Senior Montage at the Awards Ceremony. We want to include all 47 of our seniors in this special video. To do that, we need two photos of each senior. One can be a baby or toddler-age photo and the other can be an elementary-age photo. We will add the student’s senior photo to the montage.

Parents and/or students may choose the two younger-age photos and send them via email (in as high a resolution as possible) to no later than March 25. If you are not able to scan, you may mail original prints to Mrs. Henry at the Academy. We will scan them and return them to you (please be sure you identify the student and send a return address).

Senior Calendar
The spring semester is a very busy time for all students, but especially seniors. For your convenience, the Senior Calendar is posted at this link on our website:

This calendar is updated throughout the semester, so keep the link handy.

Order Yearbooks While You Can!

The Crest yearbook will not be on sale much longer, so reserve your copy now! Payment for the yearbook can be made online through this payment portal. You can also still order a personal ad in the Crest to honor your favorite student. Ads can be purchased through the same payment portal. Please contact Mrs. Rollins for any questions about yearbooks or ads:

Highland Lakes Journey Camp

Looking for a Christian Camp opportunity for your son or daughter this summer? SMA will be sponsoring a Journey Camp at Highland Lakes July 13-17. SMA students currently in grades 7-12 may register. See the camp webpage for all the information!

To Graduation and Beyond

Mrs. Nash has shared the presentation she gave during our spring Parent Day: To Graduation and Beyond. These slides include some helpful information for parents of Upper School students (and even Middle School students) for navigating the college admissions process.

Explore Tuscany with SMA

San Marcos Academy presents Spotlight on Tuscany! We will be traveling with Collette Tours to Tuscany June 18-26, 2020.  We will be departing from Austin and flying into Florence. Our entire stay will be in the spa resort town of Montecatini Terme. We’ll visit Florence, Pisa, Siena, Lucca, and San Gimignano. We’ll see Michelangelo’s David, the Gothic Line, the Museum of Liberation (WWII), spend time at a cheese farm and participate in a Tuscan cooking class.

Although SMA is sponsoring the trip, all are welcome to join us as we explore Tuscany, so share this with your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. If you have any questions, contact tour director Amy Bawcom at (512) 753-8001 or You can also download the travel brochure.
