Middle School Dance
The Middle School Dance in Kokernot Gym is scheduled from 7-10 p.m. The theme is Treasure Island. Parents are encouraged to help make this event a success by visiting the Sign-Up Genius page to provide food and drinks or go to our Smart Tuition portal if you want to donate funds for this event.
What is the Attire for Girls?
Girls may wear an appropriate semi-formal dress or “party dress” for the Homecoming dances. All dresses for upper school girls must be approved by Mrs. Guenther, Dean of Girls. (Please do not remove tags until the dress has been approved.) For approval, upper school girls should go by the girls dormitory after school on any weekday to try on the dress for Mrs. Guenther. To make other arrangements, girls can email Mrs. Guenther .
Middle School girls may have their dresses approved by Mrs. Howe in Davidson Hall. Please do not remove tags until the dress has been approved.
If a student wears a dress not previously approved and not appropriate for the occasion, she may be asked to leave the dance.
Dresses may be any color, with the following additional guidelines:
• Conservative in style
• No more than 3 inches above the knee
• Age appropriate
• No cleavage
• Must have appropriate undergarments
• No low backs or fronts
• Crisscross string backs must have limited open area
• No two-pieces
• No sheer material (unless fully lined)
• Wide or spaghetti strap are allowed or an appropriately fitted strapless
• Cannot be tight or form-fitting
What is the Attire for Boys?
May students bring a non-SMA student guest to the dances?
Yes, however a permission form must be completed and turned in by October 19 to the Dean of Residential Life (Mr. Boyer) for upper school boys, the Dean of Girls (Mrs. Guenther) for upper school girls or Mrs. Tamra Howe for Middle School Students. The permission form can be printed from this link.
