FACULTY POSITIONS

Senior Army Instructor

Applications for a full time Senior Army Instructor are now being accepted for the 2014-2015 school year. The Senior Army Instructor is responsible for the overall management of the JROTC unit at the school. This position is a twelve-month position that requires teaching, Monday-Friday in a college preparatory boarding school.

Job Requirements:
  • Teach 6 classes
  • Responsible to serve as the department chairperson
  • Effective classroom and behavior management skills
  • Ability to work collegially with others
  • Ability to implement basic computer skills and keep current with grade-book, lesson plans, and support materials
  • Observe policies, procedures, and directives from school administration
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Serve as the chief instructor of the JROTC Unit
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to students
Required Qualifications:
  • Retired Chief Warrant Officer or above
  • Honorably Discharged
  • Be accepted by the U.S. Army to serve in this capacity
  • Bachelor’s Degree (required, Master’s preferred)
  • Have or complete DL JSOCC and JSOCC Certification and re-certification
  • Attend annual JROTC training
  • Ability to implement basic computer skills and keep current with grade-book, lesson plans, and support materials

Dual Credit Math Teacher

Applications for a full time Dual Credit Math Teacher are now being accepted for the 2014-2015 school year. This position requires teaching six classes, Monday-Friday in a college preparatory boarding school.

Job Requirements: The College Dual Credit Math teacher will provide college-level instruction in Calculus I, II, College Algebra, and Trigonometry, will serve as an advisor and role model for students, and will observe policies, procedures, and directives from school administration.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Mathematics (not Math Education) with 18 hours graduate math courses
  • 2 years teaching experience (preferred)
  • Effective classroom and behavior management skills
  • Ability to work with others
  • Ability to implement basic computer skills and keep current with grade-book, lesson plans, and support materials

Recreation Assistant (Male and Female)

San Marcos Academy is currently seeking applicants for a Recreation Assistant to work with young people in a Christian boarding school. This is an excellent position for those seeking to work in a Christian environment that will allow for professional and spiritual growth.

Qualifications:
Hold a high school diploma (some college--preferred)
Must be available for all or most of the hours/days shown below
     M-Thur 3:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
     Friday 3:00 p.m.-11:15 p.m.
     Saturday 1:00 p.m.-11:15 p.m.
     Sunday 1:00 p.m.-7:15 p.m.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring and supervising student behavior on and off campus daily and during school sponsored events
  • Supporting middle-school and high school students in developing good behavior
  • Serving as a positive role model by exhibiting high personal standards through appropriate behavior and attitude
  • Assisting in transporting students to various destinations
  • Assisting with answering the phone and receiving messages/transferring phone calls
  • Patrolling the grounds and monitoring the movement of students that have signed out of their various dorms to ensure a safe and secure environment on campus
CDL and life guarding certification is a PLUS (higher rate of hourly pay while in this capacity)

Start Date: Immediately

Compensation: Beginning pay is $7.25/hour

Resident Assistant (Male)

San Marcos Academy is currently accepting applications for male Resident Assistants who can work 20-24 hours per week. The position starts immediately and runs through the end of May. Applicant has the opportunity to continue in this position next fall if hired. Shifts are scheduled between 3:00 p.m. and 11 p.m.. Weekend shifts may be any hours between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. Applicants may be required to work most weekends when school is in session. Pay is $7.25 per hour, with meals provided during work hours.

FACILITIES

Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

Need qualified individual to plan for, supervise and operate the Grounds Maintenance Department: Requires experience with sprinklers, irrigation and landscaping, general maintenance, mowing, and weed-eating. Requires at least three years of landscaping experience and two years of supervisory experience. Knowledge of well maintenance is a plus. This is full-time position with health insurance and 403b retirement available. Guaranteed 40 hours per week, with a pay range that is commensurate with experience. Occasional weekend on-call duty will be required. Evidence of insurability will be requested.
