Dr. Brian Guenther

President

Dr. Brian Guenther has spent the last fifteen years in the field of education serving as a teacher and an administrator. He joined the San Marcos Academy staff in 2015 as Associate Academic Dean and was named Interim Dean in 2018. On August 1, 2018, he became the fifteenth President of the Academy.

A certified superintendent, principal and teacher, Dr. Guenther received his Ed.D. Degree in Education, Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB). He also holds a Master of Arts in Christian Higher Education Administration from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from UMHB. Dr. Guenther has a passion for excellence in teaching and challenging students, faculty, and staff to reach their highest potential. Additionally, he has spent more than two decades serving in church ministry in a number of roles; associate pastor, teaching pastor, worship leader, youth pastor, and elder.

Brian, his wife, Christy, and their four children have a desire to share the Gospel and live their lives as examples of living on mission.

Bob Wiegand

Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer

Bob Wiegand has thirty-five years of experience in education working as a teacher, coach, and campus administrator for several Texas schools. He served New Braunfels Canyon High School as Principal for eight years and worked at Navarro Intermediate in the same capacity for six. Wiegand holds a Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University and a Master’s from Texas A&I. He and his wife Julie have three grown children.

Amy Bawcom

Vice President for Development and Chief Development Officer

Joining San Marcos Academy in July 2018 as the Associate Vice President for Development, Amy Bawcom has over twenty years of experience in education, both public and private. At Central Texas College, she served as the Director of College Development, Executive Director of CTC’s Foundation, and Director of Institutional Effectiveness. Amy worked in development at Scott and White Healthcare as the Director of Foundation Relations and a Gifts Officer for McLane Children’s Hospital. Ms. Bawcom started her professional career at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB), where she was an Assistant Professor in English, a lecturer in Modern Foreign Languages, Registrar, and Director of Institutional Research.

She received her M.A. degree in English Language and Literature from Baylor and holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration as well as a B.S. in English with secondary teacher certification from UMHB. She is currently working on her dissertation to complete an Ed.D. Degree in Education, Educational Leadership and Administration at UMHB.

Rhonda McNeil

Vice President for Business & Finance/Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Mrs. McNeil has more than twenty years of management, financial and accounting experience. Before taking her position at the Academy, she worked in the Software and Telecommunications industries at various companies including VMware, Vignette, Level3, and Century Link.

Rhonda has both her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from Texas State University. She is a proud fifth generation Hill Country Texan having lived most of her life in the Wimberley and San Marcos area. Rhonda has three wonderful step-children and one very spoiled dachshund with her husband, Matt.
