Celebrating the Seniors of 2020!

How proud we are of the Senior Class of 2020. Accepted to more than 75 different colleges and universities and earning more than $2.3 million in merit scholarships, this class of 46 individuals has shown great resilience in a school year unlike any other. Born in the shadow of the 9/11 tragedy and graduating during a global pandemic, the young men and women in this class are uniquely strong individuals, and we can’t wait to see how they will continue to impact the world around them.

Four graduates in the Class of 2020 have received top honors. Carter Pruitt was named valedictorian and magna cum laude, followed by Cendra Rodriguez, who was the class salutatorian and magna cum laude. Austin Lee and Caleb Strube round out the Top 10% as cum laude graduates. Three members of the class will continue their athletic careers at the college level. Bryce Patterson and Gordon Murphy have committed to play football for the Bulldogs at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, and Austin Lee will join the track team at Trinity University in San Antonio. Our seniors will also take with them a total of 336 dual-credit college hours in addition to any credit earned through Advanced Placement exams.

Commencement Ceremony – Graduate Info

Commencement for the Class of 2020 has been moved to June 27, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. at Ingram Stadium. We will not have a Rose & Sabre Ceremony, but will provide opportunities for seniors to walk through the Senior Gate and have photos taken. Additional information about Commencement is posted below:

Mofope Adejumo

Mofope Adejumo, son of Abiodun and Femi Adejumo, is from Lagos, Nigeria, and has been a student at the Academy for two years.

He was a member of the track and field team for both his junior and senior years and was a Junior ROTC cadet corporal in his junior year. Mofope served as Student Council Treasurer, Student Ambassador, National Junior Honor Society member, and International Student Organization member. In addition, he earned the Honor Roll Award’ for his academics and the Residential Life Award for his involvement in dormitory activities. Following in the footsteps of his father, Mofope would like to study engineering and will enroll in Southern Methodist University in the fall of 2020.

C/CPL Ayomide Adekunle

Cadet Corporal Ayomide Adekunle, son of Mariam Williams and Tope Adekunle, is from Lagos, Nigeria, and has been a student at the Academy for two years.

He played both football and soccer. In athletics, he obtained honorable mention as an offensive lineman and was a member of the district champion team in soccer. Ayo served as the Leo Club secretary. He was a member of the National Honor Society and International Student Organization for two years. In addition, he earned the All -Year Honor Roll award for his academics and received the Residential Life Award as a senior. He plans to attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock to study psychology and later and eventually become a cardiologist.

Charles Bennett Blair

Charles Bennett Blair, son of Dr. Michael Blair and Nicole Blair, was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and grew up mostly in Buda,Texas.

He has attended SMA for five years and has participated in football during his four years of high school and basketball since the eighth grade. He has been in the theatre program for three years, being a part of every performance during that time, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Bennett will be attending Arizona State University in the fall to study sports journalism at the Walter Cronkite School of Mass Communication.

C/CPT David Britton

Cadet Captain David Britton is from San Marcos Texas, and is the son of Paul and Jama Britton.

He has been a student here at the Academy for four years. He serves as the Bravo Company Commander, and in previous years, was the Bravo Company First Sergeant and a squad leader. He received the Veterans of Foreign Wars Award as a senior. He is a member of the band and the National Honor Society. He has been accepted to and plans to attend Texas State Technical College in Waco, Texas.

Micah Skylar Burton

Micah Skylar Burton, son of Callie and Billy Burton, is from San Marcos Texas.

He has attended San Marcos Academy for six years. He was a Second Team, All-District goalie for soccer. He ran on the track team, was captain and MVP of the cross country team and was the school mascot for the cheer squad. He played the tuba in the state champion band, where he received the Director’s Choice Award, and has been a member of NHS for three years. Serving on Student Council for three years as freshmen and sophomore class president, he served as Student Council president his senior year and was chosen as a freshman and sophomore class favorite. He was elected “Most Humorous” on the Senior Hall of Fame and was named “Mr. SMA.” Micah also runs the SMA meme page and received the NHS Digital Communications Award.

 

Tengfeng “Terry” Cai

Tengfeng “Terry” Cai, son of Benhui Cai and Rui Ma, is from Shenzhen, China. He has been a student at the Academy for three years.

He participated in the Leo Club, Basketball, Tennis and Band. In his Junior year, Tengfeng earned first division in the TAPPS Bass Drum solo and ensemble contests. In the fall, he will enroll in the University of California at Davis to major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

C/CPT Garret Clairday

Cadet Captain Garret Clairday, son of Matt and Alaina Clairday, is originally from Wichita Falls, Texas, and has been a student at the Academy for four years.

He was on the cross country and track team, and was also the captain and MVP of the basketball team. Garret has also been part of the JROTC program for four years and has been on staff for two of those years. He received the Military Order of Foreign Wars Medal for Leadership. While at the Academy, Garret has been heavily involved with all varsity sports and loves being active. Wanting to help other athletes, Garret is going to Austin Community College for his first year to complete his basics and then transfer into a bigger university to study in the sports medicine field.

Annalisa Call

Annalisa Call is from San Marcos, Texas, and is the daughter of Robert and Melissa Call.

She has been a student at the Academy for six years. She participated in volleyball and was a manager for football and baseball. She has an interest in science, and plans to attend Texas State University to study biology or zoology.

C/CPT Addyson Cianciotto

Cadet Captain Addyson Cianciotto is the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel, retired, Leonard Cianciotto and Teresa Cianciotto.

Addy lives in San Marcos and has attended SMA for three years. In that time, she has participated in the band, theatre productions, Student Ambassadors and National Honor Society. Addy has been awarded the Director’s Choice Award as the Junior recipient, was TAPPS All-State in Flute, made District Champion and was fourth place in State in the 2019 One-Act Play Competition, and made the District-level All-Star Cast. Addy also filled the role of Band Historian her Junior Year and Drum Major and Bear Battalion S-1 her Senior Year. She was voted “Most Spirited” on the Senior Hall of Fame and received the 2020 John Philip Sousa Award for 2020 in band. Addy will attend Texas Lutheran University (Seguin, TX) in the fall.

C/CPL William Vance Conway

Cadet Corporal William Vance Conway, son of Hayley Lambert and Jon Mark Conway, is from Fort Worth, Texas, and has been a student at the Academy for one year.

He was a starting defensive tackle on the varsity football team and a pitcher and first baseman of the varsity baseball team. Since he is a boarding student, he has become more prepared for life in college and has improved on his responsibilities at school and at home. His future plans include attending Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, where will pursue a major in Business Economics or Urban Planning. He also hopes to participate in collegiate sports.

Brent Dodge

Brent Dodge, the son of Frand and Suzanne Dodge, has attended the Academy for four years and has participated in basketball, football, and track and field.

He was awarded the Battlin’ Bear award for football. In the fall, Brent will be attending Brazosport College for his associates degree in automotive repair and technology. He plans to start an apprenticeship with BASF this summer.

C/CPT Aaron Mac Emerich

Cadet Captain Aaron Mac Emerich, son of Dr. Michelle Hamilton and Thomas Emerich, is from San Marcos, Texas.

In 2016, Aaron joined the Academy student body. While attending the Academy, Aaron has been a cadet in Junior ROTC all four years and was a member of NJHS for a year and NHS for three years. In JROTC, Aaron has served as a squad leader, a supply officer, and the security officer. He received the Military Order of World Wars Medal as a senior as well as the NHS Computer Science Award. Not only that, Aaron has achieved the Gilt Edge Honor Roll his sophomore through junior years as well as receiving the Second Mile Award. Aaron’s future plans are to attend Texas State University to pursue a major in math or science.

Erick D. Granado Fajardo

Erick D. Granado Fajardo is from Fredericksburg, Texas, and is the son of Geraldine Scripps-Granado and David Fajardo.

He has been a student at the Academy for three years. He participated in Junior ROTC, football, baseball, track, and soccer. Erick wishes to pursue studies in the business field with plans to attend college at Texas State University and later travel abroad. 

Camille Chloe Mia Nitard Garcia

Camille Chloe Mia Nitard Garcia, daughter of Daniel and Sophie Garcia, is from San Marcos, Texas, and has been a student at the Academy for six years.

She was captain and MVP of the tennis team and competed in the TAPPS state tennis tournament two years in a row. She has participated in Student Council, National Honor Society, and Leo Club. In past years, she has earned the “Gilt Edge” honor roll award and the Second Mile Award for academics. She was named “Best Dressed” on the Senior Hall of Fame. Next year she will enroll as a student at Texas Tech University in Lubbock to major in international business. 

Cecilia Gonzalez

Cecilia Gonzalez is from San Antonio, Texas, and is the daughter of Maria Reilly and Dr. Able Gonzalez.

She has been a student at the Academy for 2 and a half years. She has participated in track and cross country, receiving the Battlin’ Bear Award her senior year. As a senior, she also received the Residential Life Award. She plans to attend San Antonio College in the fall.

C/MAJ Caleb Guenther

Cadet Major Caleb Guenther, son of Dr. Brian and Christy Guenther, is from San Marcos Texas, and has been a student at the Academy for five years.

He was a captain of the baseball team and played football. He is the Executive Officer of the JROTC program and president of the Senior Class. He has been awarded the Superior Cadet Award, the JROTC Academic Excellence Award, the Burlsworth Character Award for football, the NHS Band Award, and the Mike Kipp Christian Athlete of the Year Award. In past years, he was the Bravo Company commander and the Bravo First Sergeant. He will be attending the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the School of Music to obtain a degree in music business. 

Cortlyn Haresnape

Cortlyn Haresnape, daughter of Greg and Charleen Haresnape, is from Pleasanton, Texas, and has been a student at the Academy for two years.

She participated in basketball, cross country, soccer, track, and theater. She was one of the soccer co-captains, was Battlin’ Bear for track, and joined the Buddy Bear Program her junior year. In addition, she has earned the “Battlin Bear” for her participation in track, and the “Rising Star” award for her dedication in theater. She was also part of the One-Act Play competition group which placed first in district and fourth in state. As a senior, she received the Director’s Choice Award in theatre and was chosen “Most Talented” for the Hall of Fame. She plans to go to college to study theater and acting.

Mac Daniel Howard

Mac Daniel Howard is the son of Mattie and Mac Howard and is from San Marcos, Texas.

Mac is a six-year senior, and has been involved with numerous clubs and activities during his tenure at SMA. He has been a member of the San Marcos Academy football team since his freshman year, and was awarded Honorable Mention All-District his senior year. He was also a member of the Bear baseball team through his sophomore year, and the SMA Battling Bear Battalion through his junior year, where he was the S-1 Adjutant Officer. He has also been a leader in the high school FCA program, and has been the president since his sophomore year. He was named to the All-State Choir his Junior year. He was a member of NHS and was on the Student Council from eighth grade to his junior year.  However the activity he has been most proud of has been his involvement in the theatre program. He has held multiple leading roles in musical productions and straight plays since his eighth grade year. During the fall of his senior year, he was a member of the cast of SMA’s production of Silent Sky, which won first place in district and fourth in state in the TAPPS One Act Play contest. He was also awarded All-Star Cast in district and state. This year, he received the Director’s Choice Award in Theatre and the NHS Theatre Award, and was chosen “Most Talented” for the Hall of Fame. In the fall, he will attend Sam Houston State University to obtain a BFA degree in Theatre with an Acting and Directing emphasis.

C/SSG Dayana Hubbard

Cadet Staff Sergeant Dayana Hubbard is the daughter of Mary Hubbard and Gerald Hubbard.

She is from Cucuta, Colombia, and has attended San Marcos Academy for three years. She participated as a varsity cheerleader for two years and played soccer in her senior year. She is a member of the Student Ambassadors and was appointed secretary of that organization in her senior year. She has participated in JROTC since her junior year and received the Leadership Award, the Academic Excellence Award, and the United States Daughters of 1812 Award. She plans to attend Eastern Florida State College in Cocoa, Florida, to study nursing.

Fizzy Ibidapo

Fizzy Ibidapo, son of Prince Rotimi Ibidapo, is from Lagos, Nigeria, but he has lived in the United States for eight years now.

He has been at the Academy for six years. He was a captain of the cross country team his junior year and participated in soccer, football, and track. In track, he was a state qualifier for the 4 x 100 relay, the 4 x 200 relay, and the 200 meter dash his  sophomore year. In his senior year, his soccer team won the district championship and the football team qualified for the state playoffs. Next year Fizzy plans to enroll in Houston Community College and then transfer to the University of Houston for another to major in either finance or accounting.

Sarah Landrum

Sarah Landrum, daughter of Tiffany and Jerry Clanton, is from Houston,Texas.

She has been a student at the Academy for two years. During that time, she participated in basketball and managed the track team. Her peers chose her as “Most Dependable” on the Senior Hall of Fame. She plans to attend Texas State University in San Marcos in the fall. 

William Lane

William Lane, son of Saundra Lane, is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

In football, he and his fellow O-Line members were honorable mentions for their TAPPS district. Will plans to attend college at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Austin Lee

Austin Lee is from San Marcos, Texas, and is the son of Dr. Lane and Tiffany Lee.

He has been a student at the Academy for five years. In athletics, he was captain and Battlin’ Bear twice for the soccer team and also participated in track, where he was MVP three years. He was Academic All-State in both sports and First Team, All-District in soccer. A three-year member of NHS, he received the Christian Character Award and the English Award. He serves as the Senior Class vice president. A Cum Laude graduate, he has been on the Gilt Edge Honor Roll multiple times. He also served as a Buddy Bear for Lower School students. Austin plans to attend Trinity University in San Antonio to study engineering science. He will also run track for the Tigers.

Christine Liu

Christine Liu is from Beijing, China, and is the daughter of Yongmei Dai and Ning Liu.

She has been a student at San Marcos Academy for three years. She is active in the National Honor Society and the Leo Club. She received second place in TAPPS for math during her junior year and first place in the SMA Math Competition. Interested in coding, she plans to study computer science at Purdue University.

Brendan Loyd

Brendan Loyd,son of Jeffry and Cristina Loyd, is from Martindale, Texas, and has attended the Academy for seven years.

He played varsity football, basketball, and ran track all four of his high school years. He performed in all three musicals and plays through his junior year. His freshman year he was chosen by the theater director for the Rising Star Award. He also received the Battlin’ Bear Award for track three years in a row and placed third in state for the 110 meter hurdles last year. Also during his junior year he served as a representative to the Student Council. As a senior, he was selected “Most Spirited” on the Hall of Fame. Brendan plans to attend Austin Community College for two years and then transfer to a university that can best suit his future plans.

C/CPT Cody Parker Massey

Cadet Captain Cody Parker Massey, son of Danielle Bergeron and Donald Massey, is from Hawkins, Texas and has been a student at the Academy for two years.

He was the team manager for the Battling Bears tennis team and the Commander of the Roaring Bear Raiders team. He serves as the Bear Battalion Publicity Officer and was an active member of Student Ambassadors. Cody received the Second Mile Award, the American Legion Military Excellence Medal, the Sons of the American Revolution Award, and the Cadet of the Quarter Award. He is undecided on which college to attend but plans to study Military Science.

C/CPT William David Meredith IV

Cadet Captain William David Meredith IV, son of David and Ness Meredith, is from Dripping Springs, Texas, and has been at the Academy for six years.

He participated in football, track, baseball, Junior ROTC, and theater. In athletics, he received the Male Athlete of the Year Award, was First Team, All-District and Battlin’ Bear for football, and was selected “Most Athletic” in the Senior Hall of Fame. In past years he has served as Fellowship of Christian Athletes vice president, was the Christian Ministries rep for Student Council, was awarded the Rising Star Award for theater, and served on staff for Junior ROTC, where he received this year’s Scottish Rites of Freemasonry Junior ROTC Award.  Daven will attend Texas State University in the fall.

C/SFC Derrick Muanya

Cadet Sergeant First Class Derrick Muanya, son of Ike and Christine Muanya, is from Sugar Land, Texas.

He has been a student at San Marcos Academy for four years. He was a member of the varsity football team, a member of the golf team, and has thrown for track and field. He has also been a Junior ROTC cadet for four years at the Academy. Derrick plans to enroll in the University of Texas at Dallas.

C/LTC Gordon Murphy

Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Murphy, son of Dean and Lisa Murphy, is from Niederwald, Texas and is a six-year senior at the Academy.

He was a football captain for two years and participated in track and field for two years. In athletics, he earned the Battlin’ Bear Award, and the MVP for football twice. He serves as the Bear Battalion Commander, National Honor Society Historian, and a member of the Student Council. In previous years, he was the Junior Class Vice President, Alpha Company Commander, and Command Sergeant Major for the Bear Battalion. As a senior, he received the Superior Cadet Award, the Bob Jennings Athletic Director’s Award, was chosen as Homecoming King, and was voted “Most Dependable” on the Hall of Fame. He is currently taking an EMT course at Austin Community College and plans to attend Texas Lutheran University next year as a member of the football team. 

C/PFC Jesse Ayemere Osimetha

Cadet Private First Class Jesse Ayemere Osimetha, son of Joyce and Kelvin Osimetha, has been a student at the Academy for two years.

He has participated in Junior ROTC, varsity track, and soccer. The Bears won the district championship for soccer his senior year. Jesse has found a high interest in studying accounting and hopes to make that a career. He plans to start school at Tarrant Community College then transfer to Texas State University.

Bryce Patterson

Bryce Patterson, son of Candice and Joe Patterson, is from New Braunfels, Texas, and attended the Academy for two years.

He was captain of the football team, and co-captain of the baseball team. In athletics he was awarded baseball and football MVP and was First Team All-District shortstop and pitcher, First Team Academic All-State in baseball and football, and Second Team All-District quarterback. As a senior, he received the Mannie Foster Male Athlete of the Year Award. He serves as FCA Vice President, Student Ambassadors Vice President, Student Council Historian, and is a member of the National Honor Society. He also has been a part of the Junior ROTC program where he was awarded Cadet of the Quarter. He also received the Second Mile Award and was named “Most Likely to Succeed” on the Senior Hall of Fame. Next year he will enroll as a student in the School of Business at Texas Lutheran University while also playing on the football team.

C/CSM Carter Pruitt

Cadet Command Sergeant Major Carter Pruitt, son of Bob and Lisl Pruitt, is from New Braunfels, Texas, and has been a student at the Academy for five years.

In past years, he participated in varsity football, golf, and track, and also served as the stage manager for three of SMA’s theatrical productions. He has been the vice president of National Honor Society, secretary of National Honor Society, S-3 of Junior ROTC, assistant director of SMA’s western musical Roadside, and vice president of his sophomore class. Carter has received the JROTC Superior Cadet Award, the Non-Commissioned Officer Association Award, eight Second Mile Awards, the National Honor Society Awards for Computer Science and Math, the American Legion Scholastic Excellence Award, the Lion’s Club Student of the Week Award, the TAPPS One-Act State All-Star Crew Award, and five All-Year Gilt Edge Awards. Carter was chosen “Friendliest” on the Senior Hall of Fame and was class valedictorian. Next year, he will become a student at the University of Texas in Austin and major in Architectural Engineering. 

Mengdie “Crystal” Qu

Miss Mengdie “Crystal” Qu, daughter of Haibing Qu and Xia Ji, is from Wuxi, China.

She has been a student at the Academy for two years. She participated in both softball and choir and has taken part in the International Leo Club. She was a member of the National Honor Society for one year. She plans to attend the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in Manhattan, NY, to major in fashion business management. 

Noah Revell

Noah Revell is from Austin, Texas, and is the son of John Revell and Stephanie Malay.

He has been a student at the Academy for two years. He participated in both varsity basketball management and track. Discovering an interest in economics, Noah wishes to pursue studies in that field at the University of North Texas in Denton, where he will enroll in the fall.  

Cendra Denea Rodriguez

Cendra Denea Rodriguez, daughter of Lizette and Ray Rodriguez, is from San Marcos, Texas, and has been a student at the Academy for six years.

She was captain of the varsity volleyball, softball, and cheer team. Cendra participated in varsity soccer and basketball. She served as class secretary for her freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years. She also served as the National Junior Honor Society president, the National Honor Society secretary, and the Student Ambassador president. She was a member of the Leo Club and Student Council. In addition, she earned the “Gilt Edge” and “Second Mile” awards for her academics. Cendra received MVP as well as the “Battlin Bear” award for her work ethic in softball and was MVP and Second Team All-State for cheerleading at the TAPPS State Competition. She was nominated for the Homecoming Court all four years of high school. In addition she was nominated as class favorite her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. Rodriguez joined the Buddy Bear Program her junior and senior years to offer mentorship to Lower School students. This year, Cendra was the class salutatorian, was chosen “Most Likely to Succeed,” was named “Miss SMA,” and received the Larry Roberts Memorial Award in Social Studies as well as the NHS Social Studies Award. Cendra plans to attend Baylor University to major in biology on a pre-med track. 

Milen Rodriguez-Bravo

Milen Rodriguez-Bravo is from San Antonio, Texas, and is the daughter of Jose Rodriguez and Claudia and Bobby Brown.

She has been a student at the Academy for two years. Milen has participated on the girls basketball team and was named the Battlin’ Bear. She has also participated as a member of Student Ambassadors. She served as the vice president of Leo Club and secretary of the Student Council. She was also elected “Friendliest” on the Senior Hall of Fame. Milen plans to attend Texas State University, majoring in communication disorders. She hopes to pursue a career in speech-language pathology. 

Amberly Schlanger

Amberly Schlanger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abel Valenzuela, and Mr. Mark Schlanger, is from Martindale, Texas, and has been a student at the Academy for five years.

David Shin-Liang Shui

David Shin-Liang Shui, son of Zhiyuan Shui Mao and Ling Hou, is from Monterrey, México, and has been a student at the Academy for three years.

He participated in varsity football, varsity soccer, track, and band. He also participated in the Junior ROTC program in his sophomore year and was a Cadet Corporal. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Ambassadors, International Student Organization, Leo Club, Math Club, Badminton Club, and Chess Club. In addition, he earned the “Honor Roll” award in academics. In his junior year, David earned first division in TAPPS marimba solo and ensemble contests and the Bear Band won first place in state for TAPPS. Discovering an interest in business, David wishes to pursue studies in that field. He plans to attend college at the University of Texas at Dallas, and later hopes to attend the University of Texas at Austin. 

Animaan Singh

Animaan Singh, son of Amrendra Kumar and Neeta Singh, is from New Delhi, India, and has been a student at the Academy for two years.

He was a part of the football team as well as the baseball team for two years. He received All-District honors in football. Animaan plans to study business management in college, and he hopes to attend Louisiana State University in the fall.

C/MAJ Caleb Strube

Cadet Major Caleb Strube, son of Dr. Wayne Strube and Major Alyson Harris, is from San Marcos, Texas, and has been a student at the Academy for four year.

He ran track and serves as the Bear Battalion Operations Officer, President of the National Honor Society, Vice President of the Student Council, and Treasurer of the Senior Class. In past years, he has served as the Bear Battalion Supply Officer, Treasurer of the National Honor Society, and Treasurer of the Student Council. In addition, he has received Honor Roll, Gilt Edge Honor Roll, the Second Mile Award, Best First Cadet, Superior Cadet Award, and the National Honor Society Humanities and Social Studies awards. He is also a Cum Laude (Top 10%) graduate. Next year he will enroll at Texas A&M-College Station, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Russian. After receiving his degree, he will be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.

Ava Paige Webb

Ava Paige Webb, daughter of King and Christine Webb is from Luling, Texas, and has been a student at the Academy for four years.

She was a captain of the cheer and basketball teams, and she ran track as well. In athletics she received the Female Athlete of the Year award twice, the Battlin’ Bear award and MVP Award for basketball, Battlin’ Bear for cheer, First Team All-State for cheer, and was MVP twice for track. She was also voted as Homecoming Queen and as “Most Athletic” on the Senior Hall of Fame. She is a member of the National Honor Society, and also serves as president of the Leo Club. Next year Ava plans to go to Texas State University to major in biology. 

Zach Whitaker

Zach Whitaker is the son of Gerry and Alanna Whitaker, and he is from New Braunfels, Texas.

C/CPT Julius Wong

Cadet Captain Julius Wong, son of Kennis Wong Kwok Leung and Ngai Ming Lie, is from Hong Kong and has been a student at the Academy for four years.

He has participated in baseball, band, and Junior ROTC since his freshman year and played football his senior year. He serves as the Alpha Company Commander and the Treasurer for the National Honor Society. Julius joined the Buddy Bear Program in his Junior and Senior year to offer mentorship to the Lower School students. He previously also served as the Command Sergeant Major of the Bear Battalion and received the Military Order of the Purple Heart Medal. After he graduates, he plans to attend Texas State University to study Forensic Science.

Huanmu “Lily” Xu

Huanmu “Lily” Xu is from Qingdao China, and is the daughter of Jun Yang and Xun Xu. She has been a student here at the Academy for six years.

She participated in theater, acting in three school plays. She is on the All-Year Honor Roll and won the Second Mile Award in her junior year. Discovering an interest in art history, Lily wishes to pursue studies in that field. She plans to attend college at the State University of New York Binghamton.

Zekai Yang

Zekai Yang, son of Zhiheng Yang and Xiaomi Han, is from Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, and has been a student at the Academy for four years.

He participated in varsity soccer and band. He was a member of the Student Council, Student Ambassadors, and National Honor Society. He served as the vice president of the band and president of the Math Club. He earned the Gilt Edge Honor Roll, Second Miles Award, and All-Year Honor Roll  for his academics. In addition, he was awarded the 2019 varsity soccer MVP and the Residential Life Award. In his junior year, Zekai earned the first divisions in piano and percussion in TAPPS. He received All-State honors for piano and performed in the band, which won the state championship as well. He was named “Best Dressed” on the Senior Hall of Fame. Zekai plans to attend the University of California at Davis for their premedical program. 

Haoyue “Elena” Zhang

Haoyue “Elena” Zhang, daughter of Yufei Chen and Zhen Zhang, who is from Ningbo, Zhejiang, China.

Discovering interests in art and economics, Haoyue wishes to pursue studies in these fields. She plans to attend college at The University of Texas at Dallas, and later hopes to attend Texas A&M University in College Station.
